Pros: +Great work atmosphere +Great co-workers +Steak Lunches for hitting Safety Record Goals +Good friends +Steady pay Cons: -Unsafe Work Environment. I saw and reported several safety violations including OSHA violations. When I reported OSHA violations to different members of my team, my team leader, HR, it fell on deaf ears, like they had no idea what OSHA is. -Very low starting full time pay. $11.00/hour -Horrible benefits. Coverage and deductions don't cut it. -Extremely poor forklift training. My "training" consisted of driving around in a circle for 5-10 minutes. -Careless forklift operators which has resulted in many collisions, "near misses" during my employment. -FMLA/Medical Leave is far more complicated than it needs to be. Claims go through two 3rd party companies whom don't communicate with each other. They require frequent updates which consists of 20 pages of paperwork from each company that my doctor has to fill out. Compared to a former employer, I only had ONE (1) paper, and my FMLA started after 3 days. At Lowes, you have to wait 3 weeks. -Management passes the buck. They're good people, but when me and other employees complained about Cigna, their insurance carrier, Lowes failed to step in. I had a supervisor send an email to Corporate for a resolution, and I never ever heard back. Talked to HR and the Plant Manager, my words fell on deaf ears. When I work at Energizer and we had issues with an insurance company, at one point we met with the insurance company's reps. They came to us and tried to work things out. Of course things were different, at Energizer we had several hundred workers. At Lowes Flatbed Distribution Center #1437, you have approximately 30-35 employees. But Lowes isn't a little company. All employees should be taken care of. -Horrible turnover. During my time, people came and went ALL the time. A lot of the workforce are temporary workers. -Horrible Micro-Management. I got pulled in for checking my hours at the time clock inside the break room after using the restroom, which is also located inside the breakroom. The process of checking my hours took less than 20 seconds.
